STOOL in CLAY – Exhibited at The Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition 2022.
Exhibition title and theme: FACTORY
The word FACTORY contains an ambiguity that inspired our project. In its root, it refers both to the machine-made and to the hand-crafted.
We modelled three ceramic stools by hand. They are constructed with a visible X-shaped interior frame to support the shape when it is fired. The construction and bright colours lend the stools an industrial, standardized look that contrasts their unique, organic, hand-crafted expression.
