The exhibition #claydiesselfies is about the concept “selfies”, and is a comment on our time. Taking a picture of yourself is seen upon as a normal social behavior, and it is a way of documenting and sharing with friends, where you have been and what you have been doing. At the exhibition #claydiesselfies visitors are invited to take pictures of themselves together with the pieces.
The selfie term is characterized by irony, spontaneity and humour. Values that seem universally human and which are interesting for us to work with artistically. Even because they are values that are not always seen upon as being rather cultivated.
With this project we let the selfie concept inspire us to make new ceramic objects, and we encourage people to interact and take photographs of themselves with the pieces. This way we hope that, during and after the exhibition, we will have a large collection of selfies that can be seen on Instagram for a long time under #claydiesselfies.
